Winner: Doctors Without Borders - USA

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

With 21,121 votes, the winner for the round ending Jan 16, 2008 is Doctors Without Borders - USA. A donation of $123.85 will be made to Doctors Without Borders - USA on behalf of Vote4Cause and all of the very enthusiastic and passionate supporters that voted it into 1st place. This is a ~$50 increase from the last round! The site is growing and so are the contributions. Thank you to everyone that voted. Also, thank you for your patience with problems that seem to appear from out of nowhere. I am trying to set aside time to improve everything and make it a more enjoyable and user-friendly experience for everyone. Again, Congratulations!

Here is some information about Doctors Without Borders - USA:
Doctors Without Borders/Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries. Each year, MSF doctors, nurses, logisticians, water-and-sanitation experts, administrators, and other medical and non-medical professionals depart on more than 4,700 aid assignments. They work alongside more than 25,800 locally hired staff to provide medical care. In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF provides essential health care, rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, battles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centers for malnourished children, and offers mental health care. When needed, MSF also constructs wells and dispenses clean drinking water, and provides shelter materials like blankets and plastic sheeting.

Facebook Application

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

For those of you that use Facebook, I am working on a Vote4Cause Facebook application. You can currently access it at:

http://apps.facebook.com/voteforcause

This application allows you to vote for your favorite causes and your total votes will be tracked. It also allows you to publicly support one organization that will be shown in your profile for the world to see.

Please keep in mind that it is still being developed and that I have been running into the occasional time out. If you happen to check it out and have some feedback (really, anything is better than nothing), drop me a line here or through the contact form.

Welcome to Vote4Cause!

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Vote4Cause quietly launched on November 20, 2007. Hopefully as time goes by, it will be a lot less quiet around here. What is Vote4Cause? It is a site where you vote for the organization you wish to support. By voting, you are generating ad revenue from our sponsors. The top vote getters at the end of each voting session will receive 100% of the revenue generated. For now, the donations will be small since nobody knows about the site. However, as word gets out and more people visit, then the purses should grow. To that end, if there is a sponsor that interests you, you should check them out. They make this entire model possible! For answers to some more questions, visit the FAQ.

Vote4Cause was started because I believe this model will support great organizations. For those of us who have already donated money or don’t have money to donate, Vote4Cause allows you to support great organizations by simply donating your time.

I will use this blog to make announcements about end of session donations as well as to highlight organizations that are I feel are worthy of mentioning. Please feel free to contact me to give your comments, feedback, and organizations that you would like to see listed. You can do this either here at the blog or via the contact page page.

Now, let’s get to voting!
